wired.

i have been so bad about updating this blog.
between school and social commitments,
there just aren't enough hours in the day.
that said, i made a major lifestyle adjustment today...
i deactivated my facebook account!
already i've been met with a slew of dissenters and lots of but why?s.
here's why:
it's no longer socially acceptable for a college student
to not care about facebook, much less not have one.
we're so plugged in to our smart phones, our laptops, our media,
that we've forgotten how to interact with people;
it's simpler to "friend" someone online, rather than
having a real, live, personal conversation about movies and music.
one especially supportive friend even noted,
"i feel like i compare myself with
the people and pictures i see-- not good."
now, i'm certainly not getting out my soapbox &
condemning facebook and its users.
and i'm not out to prove that i'm "better," or "more selfless"
because of this. getting off facebook isn't a permanent change,
it's an experiment. i genuinely want to see if i feel happier
after removing myself from the comparison game.
