samford university.

As promised, (though much, much later than I planned) pictures from phase three of Our College Adventure a.k.a. Samford University. Though it wasn't quite to Sam's taste, it was still incredibly lovely:

Pencil Clemson in (tentatively) for tomorrow?

road trip updates

behold! a square of instagrammed road trip wonder!

l-r, the beautiful painted ceiling in samford university's chapel.
me at mast general store modeling our favorite new phrase for when things get awkward.
flag for appalachian state university. one of sam's favorites thus far.
some sidewalk chalk doodles drawn just in time for the rain at grandma's house.

war eagle.

    we toured auburn this morning-- another HUGE, confusing campus. proof? i was lost
    before we even started the 9 am tour. it took the secretary at admissions, a $50 parking
    ticket, (later appealed, thankthelord) and a toomer's lemonade to get me back to my
    wandering family. but what a fun lost morning it was ;)

one down, six to go.

for our first stop on the southeastern college tour spectacular, we visited florida state university. let me tell you, that place is BIG. i think sam really liked it! (things he did not: mom's endless stream of questions for the tour guide.) my favorites: the william johnston building (because it houses the art history and education departments. duh.) and the fsu flying high circus. if i went to fsu, you can bet your bottom dollar i'd be riding an elephant around the circus in some glittery confection.

tallahassee, too, was much cooler than i expected. apart from the drunken, fourth of july girls gone wild routine we saw at dinner last night, tally seemed like a great college town ...but that could be a most excellent turkey sandwich from goodie's eatery swaying my opinion ;) there's more big, southern universities on the docket for tomorrow, but for now,

impromptu road trip.

this past sunday saw a lot of spontaneity
(and a lot of me nervously writhing my hands; unplanned events make me super anxious).
a few friends and i road tripped to southern florida to see our superstar friend lexi
in her one woman wonder production, adam rapp's the edge of our bodies.

{anna, me, and lexi}

lexi's performance was seriously incredible. one of my favorite parts about being friends with her is watching her grow as an actress. i expect one day we will be road tripping to the revered great white way. for now, though, nowheresville plantation, florida is a heck of a lot easier.

did i mention that we got there a little early and spent the afternoon at brookestone?
bless you, plantation. (you also had a mighty fine looking target if i do say so myself.)

dream summer suitcase

my dream (prada) suitcase packed and ready to go for any summer 2012 adventure:

Road Trippin'

Oh, how time flies. Next week we're going on a good old fashioned college road trip for my (not so) little brother. I'm certainly not an amateur when it comes to road trips (been finding the best roadside detours since 1999), but my packing skills leave much to be desired. If only packing up were as easy as arranging pictures on a Polyvore template...

oops i dyed it again

apparently my thirst for ah-ma-zing hair is insatiable.
i dyed it again today!
this time a more neutral warm tone,
only one shade darker than my natural color,
and a few highlights painted in.
{i'm seriously impressed with my newfound embrace of change}
mom and i roadtripped to deland to celebrate
slash we just wanted an adventure and a change of scenery.
{hmm, i'm seeing a pattern...}

my friend chelsie called me up while we were cruising around deland
and asked if i wanted to go to a ucf baseball game that night.
i of course said yes, because i haven't seen chelsie since
december and i've missed her terribly.

even though we lost {hellooo curse of spectator slambert}
i had a wonderful time meeting all of her new college friends and eating
some delicious ballpark franks
{i wish i would have brought my camera!}
happy weekend!

thursday soundtrack

have you ever had a song that's your battle cry?
like, as soon as you hear it, watch out.
you can do anything with this song as your soundtrack.
you are invincible.
my current battle cry is "it's time" by imagine dragons.
chrissy made me the best mix tape for my easter weekend road trip,
and, lo and behold, this was track number three.
i rolled down all the windows and sang at the very top of my lungs.
it was a freeing moment
i felt safe. i felt wild. i felt alive.
isn't it great when music can give you that?
what song is your battle cry?
