navy, navy, navy.

loft dress || target sun hat ||
uo bag || MAC ruby woo lipstick

yesterday i had the awesome treat of having my friend chelsie take outfit photos.
chelsie is super handy with a camera; she's currently studying film in college and recently won best drama at campus moviefest for her short film mr. carter.
if lexi's on her way to the tonys, chelsie's definitely clearing a path to the oscars.
how do i surround myself with all of these uber talented individuals??
happy almost 4th!

impromptu road trip.

this past sunday saw a lot of spontaneity
(and a lot of me nervously writhing my hands; unplanned events make me super anxious).
a few friends and i road tripped to southern florida to see our superstar friend lexi
in her one woman wonder production, adam rapp's the edge of our bodies.

{anna, me, and lexi}

lexi's performance was seriously incredible. one of my favorite parts about being friends with her is watching her grow as an actress. i expect one day we will be road tripping to the revered great white way. for now, though, nowheresville plantation, florida is a heck of a lot easier.

did i mention that we got there a little early and spent the afternoon at brookestone?
bless you, plantation. (you also had a mighty fine looking target if i do say so myself.)

how to not update a blog: a field guide.

hello dear readers! let me begin by telling you how incredibly sorry i am for neglecting this blog for FOUR entire days. it's unforgivable. fortunately, neglecting said blog has prompted my own super special field guide: how to not update a blog {in five easy steps.} allow the procrastination to begin!
     a wise woman once said that having a blog is like having a child.
a needy, helpless, attention seeking child that must look unique, clean, and pretty. it should be fun to interact with. you just want your little blog to be the best that it can be. (blogging is basically like being a tiger mom.)
     but sometimes, you need a break from your dependent; you get tired of answering their every beck and call. that is when you consult the revered field guide and take a much deserved mini vacation.
     (note: i do NOT condone these actions for real, life parents with real, life children. you are raising a HUMAN BEING for pete's sake. procrastination is, like, the ultimate taboo!! unless you want them majoring in leisure studies at arizona state university.)

STEP ONE
procure lots of friends.

{classic kerry}

STEP TWO
make sure those friends can cook.

for example, this weekend i learned that
kerry makes a kick-ass puttanesca.

...but we ate her equally delicious dessert first.

STEP THREE
watch movies.
lots and lots of movies.
(make sure said friends provide witty commentary...
because you might be watching this)
but hopefully you also got to see this:
{moonrise kingdom was da bomb dot com}

STEP FOUR
busy yourself with medicinal activities
for example, biopsies or blood work
{for real fun, do both on the same day.
needles are too much fun, y'all.}

{didn't faint this time... accomplishment.}

STEP FIVE
get really into knitting.
adopt the mantra "knitters aren't quitters."
because you are going to make a full fledged wool scarf
even if it kills you, dang it.
most importantly, forget to feed yourself because
YOU ARE A KNITTING MACHINE.

{in which case, step two should greatly benefit you.
especially if you ate exactly-but-maybe-kinda-more-than half
no regrets.

your faithful blogger

(for added fun, repeatedly forget to bring your camera on adventures
so that you, too, may crappily document your experiences with instagram)

oops i dyed it again

apparently my thirst for ah-ma-zing hair is insatiable.
i dyed it again today!
this time a more neutral warm tone,
only one shade darker than my natural color,
and a few highlights painted in.
{i'm seriously impressed with my newfound embrace of change}
mom and i roadtripped to deland to celebrate
slash we just wanted an adventure and a change of scenery.
{hmm, i'm seeing a pattern...}

my friend chelsie called me up while we were cruising around deland
and asked if i wanted to go to a ucf baseball game that night.
i of course said yes, because i haven't seen chelsie since
december and i've missed her terribly.

even though we lost {hellooo curse of spectator slambert}
i had a wonderful time meeting all of her new college friends and eating
some delicious ballpark franks
{i wish i would have brought my camera!}
happy weekend!

i wish heartfelt didn't always equal hooky

{i am so very lucky to have the friends that i do.
i wish there was a more powerful way to convey that.
but they are each so funny & so smart,
so clever & cultured,
so selfless & passionate,
so gracious & kind.
i have known many amazing individuals, and i don’t think i ever really appreciated the diversity of friendships i had until today.
i love them all.}

i posted this to tumblr earlier, but i wanted to elaborate.
this week, i've been constantly struck with how much i love my life.
or rather, the strange and beautiful people that populate it.
maybe it has something to do with deactivating my facebook
but i've been able to appreciate my friendships even more this week.
i have friends that are always hooking me up with the latest & greatest music
via mixtapes & awesome websites {daytrotter, 8tracks}
i have friends that listen to my spirited rants &
friends that know just how to handle my opinionated, persnickety nature.
i have friends that love how animated i get when i tell a story &
friends that can enjoy the absolute peace of saying nothing at all.
but by far
my favorite friends are the ones who want to teach me things
or show me things that are unique & special to them.
either because they care enough to educate & enhance me as a person,
or because they genuinely know what i will find inspiring.

what else can i say?
everything's copacetic.
 I worry, I weigh three times my body

I worry, I throw my fear around
But this morning, there's a calm I can't explain
The rock candy's melted, only diamonds now remain
